Official Health Certificates
Due to strict import and export governement regulations Koi exported from Taiwan has to be issued with health certificates that include a KHV certificate. Only two institutions are used to perform the official tests:

For the south of Taiwan (Pindong county):
Laboratory of Avian and Aquatic Pathology Department of Veterinary Medicine
of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST)

For the north of Taiwan (Kelong county):
Fisheries Research Institute (FRI)

Apart from KHV, the following diseases are checked: IHN, SVC, VHS.
The KHV certificate is then issued by this authority and only this one executive stated:

Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ)
Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan
R.O.C.

The certificates have to be stamped and signed in order to be authentic. Furthermore a "Certificate NO." is written on every certificate, which can be authenticated by the authority. Faxing the certificate to the authority with a short note usually is enough for authentication. Please note that for every shipment a new certificate is issued. The stated email address has proven to be overloaded from time to time.

Due to strict regulations governing the fish industry, all goernment-registered Koifarms in Taiwan are checked by the governement veterinary every other months (every second month). During this checkup they are also checked on KHV.

Should you receive a KHV health certificate not issued by the authorities stated above, there will be no official guarantees for the safety of your shipment nor possibilities for tracking.
